George Lefebvre (1874-1959) was a French historian, considered a leading authority on the French Revolution. Writing often from a viewpoint which he felt the peasant of the time would have held, he believed that all of history relates to the conditions of the working class, as manipulated by the upper class.
He held chairs at the Annales School and the Sorbonne. His seminal works were "The French Revolution" and "The French Revolution from 1793 to 1799".
