George Weah (born October 1, 1966 in Monrovia, Liberia) is a Liberian football player. In 1995, he earned FIFA World (he is the only African to have won this coveted title), European, and Africa Player of the Year, while playing for the Italian powerhouse, AC Milan. Weah also played for Monaco, Paris Saint Germain, Chelsea, Manchester City, and Olympique Marseille. He is a devoted humanitarian for his war-torn country. He was named by Pelé as one of the top 125 greatest living footballers in March 2004.
At the 2004 ESPY Awards, Weah won the Arthur Ashe Courage Award for his humanitarian efforts in Liberia.
