A gazebo is a structure commonly found in parks, gardens and other spacious public areas. Gazebos have a roof, are freestanding and are open-sided. The main purpose for gazebos is to provide shade, shelter against rain, and rest. Sometimes, if the gazebos are big enough, music groups can play in them. Gazebos can also be at the center of a park to add to aesthetics. An example of this is Church Square Park in Hoboken, New Jersey (see picture).
