Gatow Airport

Gatow Airport is an airport in the city of Berlin, Germany.

After World War II the airport was in the British zone of occupation, and became RAF Gatow. It played an important part in the Berlin airlift, during the period when the Soviet Union prevented supplies coming to Berlin by land.

By the nineteen seventies activity at Gatow was very much reduced. Following the reunification of Germany the airport was returned to Germany and was used as a Luftwaffe base.

A museum of the Berlin airlift is located at Gatow.
