Frank Wells
Former President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Walt Disney Company from 1984 till his death in a helicopter crash on April 3, 1994. Originally in the running for CEO of Disney in 1984, he lost the postition to Michael Eisner who subsequently hired Wells in September 1984 as President and COO. Previously Wells worked for Warner Brothers, as its Vice President in 1969, then in 1973 as President, and in 1977 as Vice Chairman till he left the company in 1982. Achieved his mountain-climbing goal on six continents; only Mount Everest eluded him, as bad weather forced his party to give up one day before reaching the summit.
