The theory of flood geology is an explanation of the world's geological features by reference to the flood in the Biblical account of Genesis. It attempts to explain the geological structure of the Earth in much the same way that Creationism and Intelligent Design do our biological origins.
Flood geology is especially known for its theory that the global flood of Noah was responsible for the formation and carving of the Grand Canyon, as well as burying hundreds of thousands of fossils in rock layers all over the Earth.
Like Creationism in general, flood geology has come under fire. It is still regarded by most secular scientists as a theology, not science. Creation scientists respond to this claim by saying that secular scientists will never accept anything that has its basis in the Bible, no matter how scientific it is.
