Flemings are inhabitants of Flanders, the northern half of Belgium. Their official language is Dutch. Though they speak the same language as the Dutch, the 'Flemish' version of it is different in usage (comparable to American vs. British English) and in intonation. A Fleming can easily spot a Dutchman even when speaking a mere sentence. While language and culture may partially overlap with the Dutchmen living in the Netherlands, especially the southern part called Zeeuws-Vlaanderen (Zeelandish-Flanders), they are a distinctly different people with a different culture and would take offence at being called Dutchmen.
