The flag of Lithuania was adopted on March 20, 1989. The same colours had previously been used by the inter war independent state of Lithuania, but then in ratio 2:3. (The ratio 1:2 comes from the Soviet Lithuanian flag which used this ratio.)
Yellow color in the flag symbolizes light and sun, green is for grass and red represents the blood that was shed for Lithuania.
