Fish ladder

Fish ladders are structures placed on or around man-made barriers (such as dams and weirs) to the natural migration of diadromous fishes. They enable fish to pass around the barrier by swimming and leaping up a series of relatively low steps (hence the term "ladder") into the waters on the other side.

See eel ladder.
