The First Barons' War (1215-1217) was a Civil War in England between the forces of a number of rebellious barons and King John I of England.
The war was provoked by the repudiation of Magna Carta by the King, and lead to the Barons offering the English throne to the dauphin of France (later King Louis VIII of France), who responded by invading England before eventually ending his campaign with the signing of the Treaty of Lambeth.
