Ferro Rodrigues

Eduardo Luís Barreto Ferro Rodrigues (born in Lisbon, November 3, 1949) is a Portuguese politician and economist.

He was Minister for Social Security, and later for Public Works in the governments of António Guterres.

Shortly afterwards, in 2002, he was elected Secretary-General of the Portuguese Socialist Party, a position he retained for two years in spite of the multiple scandals that surrounded the party during that time. He finally resigned on July 9, 2004, immediately after President Jorge Sampaio announced a decision not to hold early elections when former Prime Minister Durão Barroso stepped down from office in order to be appointed President of the European Commission.
