Euler's rotation theorem

In mathematics, Euler's rotation theorem states that any rotation has an axis.

Thus, a rotation may be described using three degrees of freedom: two to specify the axis (say, latitude and longitude) and one to specify the amount of rotation.

The theorem is named for Leonard Euler.
