Emperor Reigen of Japan



         


Emperor Reigen (霊元天皇) (1654-1732) was the 112nd imperial ruler of Japan. He was a son of an earlier emperor, Go-Mizunoo, although born after Go-Mizunoo had abdicated the throne. Go-Sai became emperor in 1663 after his brother Go-Sai abdicated. In 1687, Reigen himself abdicated in favor of his son, Higashiyama.
