EMC Corporation

(NYSE: EMC) is a manufacturer of high-end storage hardware and software. EMC produces a range of enterprise storage products, including hardware disk arrays and storage management software. Their flagship array, the Symmetrix, is the foundation of storage networks in many large data centers. The CLARiiON line was acquired with Data General.

In 2002, EMC acquired Prisa Networks for its storage area network (SAN) management VisualSAN product. In 2003, EMC announced that it would purchase Documentum and Legato Corporation. Recently, EMC has been doing a lot of work in the area of ILM or Information Lifecycle Management.
