Egyptian languages



         


The Egyptian languages are a subfamily of the Afro-Asiatic languages. The only members are the ancient Egyptian language and its descendant, Coptic. They are extinct in regular usage, though Coptic is preserved as a liturgical language in the Coptic Church.
