A concise definition of ecofeminism reads: "Ecofeminism is the social movement that regards the oppression of women and nature as interconnected. Several ecofeminists have also demonstrated the interconnection of the oppressions of women and nonhuman animals. More recently, ecofeminist theorists have extended their analyses to consider the interconnections between sexism, the domination of nature (including animals), and also racism and other social inequalities. The most influential writers of the last decade include Val Plumwood, Donna Haraway, Noel Sturgeon, Chris Cuomo, Greta Gaard, Carol Adams, Vandana Shiva, Susan Griffin, Starhawk, Winona Laduke, and Lynda Birke.
