Yebisu (恵比須, 恵比寿, 夷, 戎, 蛭子) is also called Ebisu, Hiruco (蛭子), and Kotoshiro-nushi-no-kami (事代主神). He is the Japanese god of fishermen and good fortune. He is also the god of the morning sun, and the health of children.
Yebisu was originally named Hiruco. He was born without any bones, and was thus cast out into the ocean by his parents. He survived and was cared for by one Ebisu Saburo. After overcoming many hardships, he became the god Yebisu.
Yebisu is associated with fish, especially jellyfish.
Yebisu is also a brand of beer.
