Earl of Chatham

The Earl of Chatham was a peerage given to William Pitt the Elder in 1766, after which he became Lord Privy Seal. Its first subsidiary title was Viscount Pitt (1766); after the inheritance of the earldom by John Pitt, he additionally inherited the title Baron Chatham (1761), which became a subsidiary title of the earldom. After the latter's death, the earldom, viscountcy, and barony all became extinct.
