DVT

A Driving Van Trailer, known as a DVT, is a specially-built railway vehicle, which allows a locomotive to be driven remotely. Using a system known as Push-pull, the driver can drive the locomotive, even though it is at the rear of the train.

The DVT was developed from the DBSO, but unlike its predecessor, it was built specifically for this purpose. It has a top speed of 125mph (designed for top speed of 140mph), and has luggage space and a Guard's office. Safety regulations prohibit the carrying of passengers in the front vehicle of any train travelling at over 100mph.

DVTs can bee seen in service on GNER, Virgin_Trains, and are being introduced by 'one' Anglia, formerly Anglia_Railways.
