Dramatic poetry

Dramatic poetry is poetry that uses the discourse of the characters involved to tell a story or portray a situation.

One type of dramatic verse is to be found in plays written for the theatre. From the earliest times until relatively recently, all theatrical works in the Western tradition were written mainly or entirely in verse.

Other forms of dramatic verse include dramatic monologues, such as those written by Robert Browning and Epic poetry, Narrative poetry.
