Doug Shane

Douglas B. Shane is one of the test pilots for SpaceShipOne, the experimental spaceplane developed by Scaled Composites. Shane worked as the operations director on the SpaceShipOne project in addition to being one of the craft's test pilots.

Shane holds a degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Kansas. An employee of Scaled Composites since 1989, Shane is Scaled's vice president for business development and director of flight operations in addition to being a test pilot.

As one of the four qualified pilots for SpaceShipOne, Shane may fly of one of the launches of the craft later in 2004 to meet the requirements of the Ansari X Prize.
