Donets'k region (Донецька область, Donets’ka oblast’ in Ukrainian) is a region of eastern Ukraine. Its capital is Donets'k. The region's population is the largest in Ukraine, due to the few big industrial cities and numerous laborer villages agglomerated around them (see urbanization).
The area of the region is 27000 km², its population (as of 2003-01-01) is 4.8 million people.
