Dogger Bank incident



         


The Dogger Bank incident occurred on October 21, 1904, when the Russian Baltic Fleet mistook a Swedish ship for a Japanese torpedo boat during the Russo-Japanese War. Later that night the Russians thought they were under attack and opened fire on British trawlers in the North Sea, sinking one, The Crane.
