Districts of Luxembourg

Administratively Luxembourg is divided into three districts, which are subdivided into cantons:

  1. Diekirch (district)
    • Diekirch
    • Clervaux
    • Redange
    • Vianden
    • Wiltz
  2. Grevenmacher (district)
    • Grevenmacher
    • Echternach
    • Remich
  3. Luxembourg (district)
    • Luxembourg
    • Capellen
    • Esch-sur-Alzette
    • Mersch

The cantons were created in the early 1840s. In 1857 the district of Mersch was created from the cantons of Mersch and Redange, but it was abolished in 1967.
