Disaccharide



         


In biochemistry, disaccharides are carbohydrates in the form of simple sugars.

Disaccharides are made up of two monosaccharides joined together (hence di-saccharides). Like monosaccharides, they are sweet, water soluble, and crystalline. Examples include sucrose, maltose, and lactose.
