Derek Smart is a software designer and businessman living in Miami, Florida, known as much for generating one of the longest and largest flame wars in Usenet history as for his perseverant work on the ambitious, star-crossed computer game Battlecruiser 3000AD.
Smart has worked for Take Two Interactive, 3000AD (a company of his own), and, most recently, for Dreamcatcher Interactive.
