In several legislatures the Dean of the House is the member with the longest unbroken record of service.

The Dean of the House of Representatives is the member of the United States House of Representatives with the longest unbroken record of service.

The Dean of the House of Commons is the equivalent in the Canadian House of Commons

In the British House of Commons the position is known as the Father of the House.
