Professor David Crystal OBE (b. 1941 Lisburn Northern Ireland) is an academic and linguist. He was a researcher under Randolph Quirk between 1962 and 1963, working on the Survey of English Usage. He is the author of some 60 books, and is currently Honorary Professor of Linguistics at the University of Wales. He is also chair of the Uk National Literary Association.
