Dane Rudhyar (born Daniel Chennevière Mar 23, 1895 in Paris, France - Sep 13, 1985 in San Francisco, CA) was a modernist composer and humanist astrologer.
He is the author of Claude Debussy and the Cycle of Musical Civilization, Dissonant Harmony (1928), The New Sense of Sound (1930), The Magic of Tone and the Art of Music (1982) and 40 other books, hundreds of articles, and two novels. His fans include James Tenney and Peter Garland, the latter saying, Rudhyar's "best works occurred in the 1920s and... 1970s!"
