Dag the Wise

Dag the Wise or Dagr Spaka was a Swedish king of the House of Ynglings, according to Heimskringla. He was the son of Dyggve, and was reputed to have been able to understand the song of birds. He consequently had a tame sparrow which flew about and returned to him with tidings like Hugin and Munin.

However, the sparrow was killed when it ate grains in a field in Reidgotaland. Dag resolved to avenge his bird and attacked Varra in Reidgotaland. When he was about to return, a thrall threw a hayfork in his back, which killed him.
