Daedalus Publishing is located in Los Angeles, California and is dedicated to the publication of books on the subject of leathersex and other alternative sexual practices, such as BDSM. It was originally started in San Francisco, California in 1992 by Race Bannon (who now runs the free Kink Aware Professionals referals service).

The first book was published was Learning the Ropes: A Guide to Safe and Fun S/M Lovemaking was written by Bannon himself in 1992, and shortly after Ties That Bind and The Leather Contest Guide by Guy Baldwin. Early books were by and about gay men and were also mostly educational in nature, but later started to include general BDSM topics and fictional material. Another well known title for this publisher is Consensual Sadomasochism : How to Talk About It and How to Do It Safely by William A. Henkin and Sybil Holiday, which was first published in 1996, and has recently been released as a second edition.

In 2001 the company changed hands and moved south.

Daedalus Publishing has recently published Painfully Obvious by Robert Davolt, which has been nominated for 2005 Stonewall Book Award - American Library Association.
