DAP
DAP has various meanings, including:
- German name of the German Workers' Party
- Democratic Action Party of Malaysia
- Directory Access Protocol - an implementation of the OSI model application layer.
- Digital Audio Player. More commonly referred to as an MP3 player, which is not an accurate description. DAPs often play more file formats than the MP3 codec, including WMA and OGG Vorbis. The very first DAP was the Rio PMP300, developed by the first Digital Audio Player company, which is now Rio Audio. This DAP generated a number of lawsuits from the major record labels, ultimately winning and establishing the Digital Audio Player market.
