Cries and Whispers

Viskningar och rop is a 1973 Swedish film which tells the story of two sisters who watch over their third sister's deathbed, both afraid she might die, but hoping she does. It stars Harriet Andersson, Kari Sylwan, Ingrid Thulin and Liv Ullmann.

The movie was written and directed by Ingmar Bergman.

It won the Academy Award for Best Cinematography (Sven Nykvist), and was nominated for Best Costume Design, Best Director, Best Picture and Best Writing, Story and Screenplay Based on Factual Material or Material Not Previously Published or Produced, but oddly not for Best Foreign Language Film.
