Conker's Bad Fur Day is a Nintendo 64 game made by Rareware LTD, that was marketed as an adult platform game. It stars Conker the Squirrel, a Rare character who has appeared in other games, such as Diddy Kong Racing for the N64 and Conker's Pocket Tales for the Game Boy. Bad Fur Day featured scatological humour, violence and a penchant for parodies (an example being the levels with the Tediz, a race of evil teddy bears in lieu of Nazi Germany in a Saving Private Ryan parody).
The game was originally known as Conker's Quest and was intended to be a cute game for younger children featuring happy animal characters in a colorful setting. However, in an apparent attempt to shed their "too cutsey" image (which they had earned from games such as Banjo Kazooie) Rare ended up scrapping the original premise, and massively re-tooling the game as an "adults only" title. Many gamers originally believed the change to be little more than an April Fools joke.
Though a highly playable and fun game, it was not a major commercial success, owing to both the unusual content and the (then) imminent demise of the N64 upon the release of the game. In 2004 it was re-released on the Xbox as Conker Live and Re-loaded.
