Confederation of the Rhine

The Confederation of the Rhine (1806-1813) was formed from 16 minor German states when Napoleon defeated Francis II and Alexander I in the Battle of the Three Emperors at Austerlitz. These states were later joined by 19 others, a total of over 15 millions subjects providing a significant strategic advantage to France in its eastern front. After Napoleon's defeat and the rise of The Conservative Order, they came to be known as the German Confederation when the Congress of Vienna redrew the map of Europe.
