The Concordia University System is a organization of ten colleges and universities throughout the United States operated by the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod. All ten institutions are named "Concordia" and all include professional church work programs as part of their curricula.
Each Concordia is independent and unique, with its own president and faculty. At the same time, the ten schools interact with one another and share some resources and services. Any student enrolled at one Concordia has the option of permanently or temporarily transferring to another with relatively little hassle. Altogether, 15,000 students attend Concordia System colleges.

There are meny other institutions named "Concordia" which are not part of the Concordia University System. Concordia Seminary in St. Louis and the Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne are LCMS-run but not part of the system. Concordia University College of Alberta was founded by the LCMS, but it is not run by them, and is affiliated with the University of Alberta. Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota and Concordia University in Montreal are not associated with the Concordia System or the LCMS.
