Collins Street is a major street in the Melbourne Central Business District and runs from east to west.
Collins Street is named after a former British governor named Collins.
Collins Street is well known for its 'Paris end', and Collins Place, where business deals and shopping are done. Since 1850, when Melbourne was founded, it has been well-known for commerce and trading.
On Collins Street is the Sebel Hotel, which is very famous for having musicians like Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra. Other hotels on Collins Street include Stamford Plaza, Australia on Collins and the Westin which was built in 2000.
Religion on Collins Street features the Baptist Church, the Scots Presbyterian (1874) and the St Michael's Uniting Church (1986).
