Chuck Cadman

Chuck Cadman (b. February 21, 1948) is a Canadian Member of Parliament representing the riding of Surrey North, in Surrey, British Columbia.

His sixteen-year-old son Jesse Cadman was murdered on October 18, 1992. Chuck and his wife Dona then founded a group to lobby the government to increase sentences in criminal cases, particularly for young offenders.

He was first elected as the Member of Parliament for Surrey North in the Canadian federal election, 1997, as a member of the Reform Party of Canada. He was reelected in the Canadian federal election, 2000 and was appointed Justice Critic.

Cadman was again reelected in the Canadian federal election, 2004, being the only candidate not affiliated with a major party to win a seat in the election. Cadman had lost the nomination for the Conservative Party of Canada to Jasbir Singh Cheema.

Cadman was diagnosed with cancer in May 2004 and underwent surgery to remove a tumour from his groin. He heard about the election call from his hospital bed.
