Chrysler A engine



         


The Chrysler A engines (not LA) are older small blocks and look the same on the outside to each other. The blocks are different in deck height, but share some internal components with the LA block. The cylinder heads and intake are different.

Plymouth used 318 poly and 350 wedge (B) in 58, 318 and 361 in '59, '60. 303 came out first, in 56, then 301. The 301 and 303 may also be 'A' engines, based on bore and stroke, (and probably the 277), but don't know about the 241, 260 or 270. The 241 and 270 appear to be poly-head versions of the Dodge Hemi (see below) bore and stroke are the same.
