Christopher Strachey was a British computer scientist.
Strachey is one of the founders of denotational semantics, and a pioneer in programming language design. Strachey worked closely with Dana Scott and Peter Landin in the 1960s.
He developed the language CPL, for Combined Programming Language. A concept due to Strachey that is familiar to all C programmers is the distinction between L- and R-values.
