Chloracne is an acne-like eruption of blackheads, cysts, and pustules. It usually involves the skin over the cheekbones and around the eyes.
Chloracne is closely linked to dioxin (a contaminant found in the herbicide Agent Orange) exposure, so much so that it is considered a clinical sign of such exposure. The severity and onset of chloracne follow a typical dose response curve. The lesions are much more persistent (mean duration in one study was 26 years) and are very resistant to the usual treatments for acne.
