The Chevrolet Astro is a Chevrolet minivan introduced in the mid-1980s to rival domestic (U.S.) competitors which consisted of Chrysler's Caravan and Ford's Aerostar. Also sharing the platform with the Astro is its sibling at GMC, the Safari.
The Astro is not to be confused with the Chevrolet Astra sold in Latin America, which is derived from the Opel model of that name.
