Charles Walter Stenholm (b. October 26, 1938) is a politician from the U.S. State of Texas
Stenholm was born in Stamford, Texas and he graduated from Texas Tech University. Stenholm was elected to the House of Representatives as a Democrat in 1978. Stenholm was a leader (with Phil Gramm) of the Boll Weevil Democrats. He remains one of the most conservative Democrats in the House. Stenholm opposed the Bush tax cut. Stenholm has faced tough re-election campaigns. Due to the redistricting plan passed by the Texas Legislature in 2003, Stenholm is running for re-election against Congressman Randy Neugebauer.
