Charles Emmanuel IV of Savoy

Charles Emmanuel IV May 24 1751-October 6 1819 was the Duke of Savoy and Piedmont and King of Sardinia from October 14 1796 to June 4 1802. For all hereditary titles, check Vittorio Amedeo III.

He married Clotilde Adelaide, sister of Louis XVI of France.

After the death of Henry Cardinal Stuart he became the senior heir of the British royal family according to the rules of primogeniture. However due to his Catholic beliefs he remained barred from the British thrones under the Act of Settlement 1701. Unlike Cardinal Stuart, Charles Emmanuel did not openly maintain his claim to the thrones.
