CHUM are two stations in Toronto that are owned by CHUM Limited.
1050 CHUM-AM was a legendary Top-40 powerhouse during the 1950s, 60s and 70s. It was started on October 28, 1945 by Jack Q'Part, an entrepreneur in the business of patent medicines. The station was soon taken over by Allan Waters. It switched to the top-40 format on May 27, 1957. In the 1980s, it became an oldies station. By 2001, ownership decided to close the oldies format in favour of the Toronto outlet of a national sports network, The Team, featuring Jim Van Horne. The Team concept failed, the network was closed down and the station reverted to oldies.
CHUM-FM broadcasts on 104.5 with a hot adult contemporary format. A music video edition of the CHUM Chart countdown is seen weekends on the co-owned Citytv.
