CFRB is a radio station in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The station began broadcasting in 1927 and was founded by the Rogers vacuum tube company (the precursor of Rogers Communications) to promote its invention of a radio that could be operated using alternating current, and therefore did not need the cumbersome battery that had previously been required. Its callsign stands for "Canada's First Rogers Batteryless".
It has been broadcast at 1010 kHz on AM radio since 1947. Since 1937, the station has been simulcast on shortwave on CFRX at 6070kHz.
The station has had a "news talk" format since the 1980s. Previously it had been considered a "middle of the road" station and then "adult contemporary music and talk".
It was purchased in 1985 by Allan Slaight's stub. You can help BambooWeb by .
