Cel-shading

Cel-shading is a style of rendering computer-generated imagery that resembles hand-drawn, cartoon images, in contrast to photorealistic renderings. The most simplistic algorithms simply fill the object with a solid color and then overlay lines on the edges of the objects. More complex algorithms engage in shading, take into account light sources, shadows, or attempt to mimic a more stylistic cartoon style, such as charcoal, watercolors or etching.

It is often used in videogames and animations.
