Cartmel Priory

Cartmel Priory, at Cartmel, Cumbria in the north of England, was founded some time between 1189 and 1194 by the Augustinian Canons and dedicated to Saint Mary the Virgin. The building of the abbey church continued on and off into the 16th century, when the choir screen was constructed. The priory was dissolved in 1536.
