Cardiff Queen Street station



         


Cardiff Queen Street station (Welsh Caerdydd Heol y Frenhines) is seen by many as the main hub of the Valley Lines network around Cardiff - the solitary connection to Cardiff Bay is seen as part of the reason for this. The station is conveniently located at the eastern end of the city centre, near the Capitol shopping centre, and sees heavy volumes of commuter traffic during the rush hour.

The station itself has three platforms at a level raised above the surrounding roads. The main services run down from platform 1, and up from platform 2. Platforms 1 and 2 are on a central island, with platform 3 being the stopping point for services to Cardiff Bay, and City line services to Radyr.
