Captain Caveman

Captain Caveman and the Teen Angels ( 1977- 1980) was a Saturday morning cartoon produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions. It was originally broadcast on ABC as part of the programming block Scooby's All-Star Laugh-a-Lympics, which also included Scooby-Doo, Dynomutt, Dog Wonder, and Laff-A-Lympics.

Captain Caveman and the Teen Angels centers around the mystery-solving adventures of the Teen Angels (brainy brunette Brenda, cowardly blond Taffy and calm African-American Dee Dee) and their friend Captain Caveman (or Cavey for short), a prehistoric caveman whom the girls discovered and thawed from a block of ice. The concept and general plot for the show were heavily borrowed from other Hanna-Barbera shows such as Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! and Josie and the Pussycats, among others.

The show remained part of the Scooby's All-Star Laugh-a-Lympics block through 1979. In March of 1980, Cavey and the girls were given their own show. There were 40 total episodes of Captain Caveman and the Teen Angels that were produced (16 in 1977- 1978, 8 in 1978- 1979, and 16 in 1979- 1980).

Starting in fall 1980, Captain Caveman would begin to appear in segments of his own in the numerous spinoff series of The Flintstones that graced the Saturday morning airwaves in the 1980s, oten in a role similar to that of Superman. In 1986, Captain Caveman appeared in a backup segment of The Flintstone Kids called Captain Caveman...and Son! with his son, Cavey Jr.
